If you are a mechanic then you will be interested in finding out how an auto technician asks for a raise. Asking for a raise requires more than just the words coming from your mouth. It requires action that prove you deserve a raise and are willing to prove it. This doesn't mean you should let yourself be walked on but lending an extra helping hand without expecting anything for it never hurt anyone.
- The first thing you need to do before you ask for a raise is to prove your worth or worthiness. Do your job and do it well. Complete your jobs in a timely manner and correctly. This means complete jobs faster than book time calls for and make sure the vehicles do not comeback for the same problem.
- Brush up on your skills. The more you can do around the shop the more valuable you are to the company. Be inclined top learn new things or how new equipment works even if it isn't in your area of expertise. Ask if the company is willing to send you for additional schooling. Ask if there are classes or licenses that would help you improve your skills.
- Show up for work on time and be willing to stay late if needed. Companies rely and appreciate people that are dependable and trustworthy.
As an auto technician you should be able to tell your boss the reasons you deserve a raise. If you are a hard worker, come in early, stay late, get your work done, etc. there should be no reason for them not to comply with your request. Let them know you really enjoy working for the company and that you are looking forward to a future there.
