You can p[perform a back flip on a snowboard off a half pipe, quarter pipe, jump or even out of a helicopter should you be heliboarding. To learn how to do a back flip on a snowboard you must understand the basic physics. To perform a back flip on a snowboard you must be able to carry out the fundamentals.

What you need to pull off a back flip:

  • Snowboard
  • Protective gear
  • An advanced skill level
  • Quarter pipe

How to back flip on a snowboard:

  1. Limber up and stretch out before you strap on your snowboard. Run the quarter pipe a few times to get a feel for the run. Once you are ready, pick up a fair amount of speed and hit the quarter pipe. As you approach the top, bend your knees.
  2. Allow your speed to carry you off the quarter pipe. Immediately lean your torso backwards with your arms out at your side. Your legs should be straight and the snowboard takes a quarter turn.
  3. Next push your legs forward as you lean further back. The air and momentum should carry you to flip backwards. Keep your arms out for balance. Pull your head all the away around but as you come back forward, keep your head and torso in place. Your legs will whip around and stop.
  4. As you drop from your elevation be sure to bend your knees. Stick the landing and then straighten up. The snowboard should be turned a quarter back to front as you land.
