If you are looking for a new style, then one you might want consider is being gothic, and if you have already decided on it, then you probably need to know how to be gothic. If you follow all of these tips and steps, you will be well on your way to becoming a black-blooded goth!

What you will need:

  • Black hair dye
  • Black nail polish
  • Black clothes
  1. The first step to becoming an average, everyday goth, is to begin growing your hair out very long. This is your first focus for the simple fact that it will take you a while to get it a good, long length. For guys, it should be down to at least your shoulders to make you look as authentic a goth as possible. You don’t necessarily have to do anything to accomplish this step, just cut your hair when you get dead ends so it will grow faster.
  2. When your hair gets to the desired length, dye it jet black. This is a staple of most gothic people as jet black is associated with, you guessed it, darkness! Be sure to get something that will stay in your hair for a long period of time, because you don’t want to get something that is going to wash right out of your hair the first week and ruin your authentic gothic look.
  3. This is the step that will separate the authentic gothics from the posers as it is time to paint your nails black. This will cement you in the gothic community, especially if you are a guy. Black nail polish doesn’t automatically create the gothic image without the other factors, but it is an important part that will make people look at you and go, "Man, he’s gothic!"
  4. Start wearing those super black clothes. By doing this, you will tie together the whole gothic ensemble. Along with the black nail polish and long, jet black hair, you will be an authentic gothic individual!
