How To Be A Punk Skater

Need to know how to be a punk skater? There are no hard set rules to being a punk skater. The genre is based two things: skating and punk music. Self expression within these wide guidelines is allowed.

  1. Learn to ride a skateboard. To be a punk skater, you must first be a skateboarder. The sport of riding the narrow board mounted on four small wheels takes time and practice to master. Typically, skating is begun at a young age, but persons of all ages can learn the activity. The sport elevates from simple street riding to ramp jumping and course trick riding.
  2. Get the right hair. If you want to be a punk skater, you need a hairstyle to reflect the genre. Hairstyles are typically shaggy cuts adorned with bright or multiple colored stripes. Some punk skaters opt for Mohawks or faux hawks in loud colors, including reds, blues and greens.
  3. Wear the right clothes. All sub-genres have their own style of clothing. To be a punk skater, you need to wear the right clothing. Skinny black jeans or long cargo shorts in camouflage patterns typically cover the bottom half. Black T-shirts or band shirts usually accompany the bottoms. Shoes are lace-up or slip-on canvas styles.
  4. Listen to the music. The term "punk" in "punk skater" refers to the style of music the genre listens to. Be a punk skater by turning up the punk tunes.
  5. Get the attitude. Part of the desire to be a punk skater is a prevailing attitude. Anti-establishment beliefs and the cry of anarchy summarize the attitude held by this group.
