How To Be Vegetarian

If you're looking to live a healthier lifestyle, learn how to be a vegetarian. Being a vegetarian is no longer the deviant from the norm. You can now request a veggie meal as on option an airplane flight or in a hospital. There are scores of restaurant that specialize in vegetarian cuisine if one wants to  how to be a vegetarian. Not only that, but there are multiple branches of vegetarianism. There’s veganism, meaning a vegetarian who consumes no eggs or dairy, there are raw foodists, who eat only raw fruit, vegetables and sprouted live grains, and the macrobiotics, who eat cooked  grains, beans and seaweeds based on the principles of balancing of yin and yang energy. Decide what kind of vegetarianism appeals to you and see it as goal. Eat one vegetarian meal a day until it feels natural to do it completely. Always check with a doctor or licensed nutritionist to ensure optimum health and avoid any nutritional deprivation   

  1. Breakfasts can be an easy transition in learning how to be a vegetarian. Skip bacon or sausage and make the first meal of the day meatless as practice for eventual vegetarianism. Spoon a heaping bowl of full yogurt topped with fresh fruit and granola. Eliminate the granola and blend the yogurt and fruit for a breakfast smoothie. If considering a raw diet, add one organic raw egg to the blend for a power protein meal you can consume without meat.
  2. Abstaining from red meat such pork, beef, and lamb can help in learning how to be a vegetarian. Lunches can be made with simple "white" meat cooked simply as a means to wean yourself off meat. If attempting to do this with fried chicken or fish and chips, it will be harder. Being a vegetarian means embracing a simplicity of the foods to absorb the essential tastes. A baked chicken or salmon  with seasoned fresh herbs and lemon can be as delicious 
  3. Make the meat the side dish or condiment.  Being a vegetarian means making vegetables the main attraction, even if meat is on the menu. For lunch or dinner, try having a large vegetable salad with a small scoop of chicken or tuna salad. The individual size cans of tuna are perfect to help diminish the role of meat in your meal
  4. Prepare a dinner with a textured vegetable such as baked eggplant as meat substitute. Baked eggplant has a chewy texture not unlike meat when baked especially with cheese and tomato sauce. Cooked spaghetti squash tossed lightly with olive oil and pine nuts is also a good substitute. Nuts are very filling.
  5. Create dishes with meat substitutes. Learning how to be a vegetarian can be as simple as adding tofu and tempeh, which are soy products. When cooked, they offer a meat-like texture. Try going to a Chinese, Japanese or Thai restaurant  where tofu is considered a staple to get an idea how to cook it. There also commercial products available at supermarkets  with the words meat or chicken or ham made out of soy or vegetable products.  Adapting  the above ideas enables learning how to be vegetarian an easy process.
