  • Headshot
  • Resume
  1. The first step is to enroll in a beginners acting class a great place to start on how to become an actor. You will learn all about how the industry works and is a great way to meet people just like you.  Acting classes will show you where you are strong and where you are weak in your acting skills to becoming an actor. To find an acting class check out your local paper or visit your community center.
  2. Next step you will need a headshot to become an actor. Your headshot is your business card.  This is another important step on how to become an actor.  On any audition you will need a headshot to show you are actor.  You will also need a headshot to meet people in the industry who might potentially give you work.  To get a headshot ask your friends in acting class where they got theirs done and see if your teacher can recommend any good photographers.
  3. Then the following step on how to become an actor is focusing on putting a resume together.  When starting out it’s ok to have no credits on it because you are just beginning to become an actor.  You will want your name, height, eye and hair color, plus contact information for you on your resume at the top of the page.  Then include in the body of your resume your education and special skills.  Education is the place to include that acting class you just took and show you are on your way to becoming an actor.  Special skills are: any hobbies, sports, languages, dialects you are amazing at.

Warning on resume: Do not put your home address on your resume because you never know who will pick it up and you don’t want your resume to land in the wrong hands.  Also you do not put objective on this resume because the industry knows when you come into an audition that you are an actor.

As you can see, becoming an actor is not that hard.  These are the beginning steps that lead to more opportunities.  Now go enroll in that acting class and make your dream come true.
