How To Become A Chartered Accountant

Do you want to know how to become a chatered accountant? A chartered accountant is an accountant who is a member of one of the institutes of accountants granted a royal charter and when you want to work globally, how to become a chartered accountant becomes a goal.  It takes many years to build a solid reputation as an accountant and to advance your career even further, certifications are going to be needed.  To be a chartered accountant, a certification from the Association of Charted Certified Accountants (ACCA) is needed.  The ACCA is a British accountancy body that offers the chartered certified accountant qualification anywhere in the world. 

  1. Complete the fourteen exams that make up the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).  To be able to take these exams, you must be at least 21 years old.  It is possible to exempt out of up to nine of these exams but you must meet the proper criteria to do so.  Also, to take these exams, you must complete the Management Accounting and Financial Accounting papers that are administered by the ACCA.
  2. Have at least three years work experience.  To become a member of the ACCA, you need to have at least three years of working experience in the field of accounting.  This work experience can be gained anywhere but it is highly recommended that the experience is obtained at a chartered accounting practice. 
  3. Finish the ACCA's Professional Ethics module.  Ethics are a huge part of the accounting field and by completing the Professional Ethics module, you are showing that you have mastered the skills necessary to work ethically in any accounting setting anywhere in the world.
  4. Register at accaglobal.com.  Registering is done once the entire process is completed.  By registering you will have access to any type of chartered information that would ever be needed.  This is also a place where chartered accountants can network and keep up with new information in the field. 

Becoming a chartered accountant is a not an easy task to achieve.  This is a multi-step process that takes many years to complete.  Even after the process is completed, there are still opportunities to learn and certifications to achieve.
