Learning how to become a CSI investigator will take dedication. Not everybody is cut out to be a crime scene investigator. It will take someone with a strong stomach to handle this career. It will require a lot of hard work, education, and skill to enter into this field. The job description for a CS varies depending on what direction you want to pursue. 

1. Shadow a CSI Investigator. If you are considering going into this field, you should contact someone in the CSI. This will be important because they will provide you with real insight of how to become a CS Investigator. Ask what it’s like on a daily bases, and if they enjoy their work.
2.  Should you become a police officer first? This is important because some departments won’t hire you unless you are a police officer, but you don’t have to become a police officer to be a CSI Investigator. Those that are police officers before they enter the CS will be paid more money, have better benefits, and more career opportunities in the future.
3. Get a degree. You simply can’t become a CS Investigator without a degree. There is so much a person needs to learn before entering this career. Without the proper education a person will not be able to perform their job. Criminal Justice Degree needs to be completed, this can be done by getting a Master’s Degree.
4. Choose a school. Unfortunately there are not classes available in all local areas, but just about anyone can start their education at a community college. Ask an advisor where the closest schools are that offer the necessary programs. Always consider going to a community college first instead of a university to save money. Community colleges will offer classes at a more affordable rate.
5. Contact a local police department. To find out how to become a CSI Investigator, contact your local police department. This is the best way to find out what their requirements are. In order to become a CS Investigator the police department has the authority to hire the right individuals that fit the criteria.
