Figuring out how to become a singer takes commitment to your craft. You watch great famous singers belting out your favorite song and inspire be just like them. Although it is hard work making it as a singer, the rewards itself will pay off tremendously so read and learn what it takes to be a singer.

  1. Take vocal lessons. Some people were born to sing but even the best need a little practice to perfect their vocals. To become a singer, take singing lessons from a professional vocal coach so the person observes your vocal strength and weaknesses according to your singing style.
  2. Record your voice. Unfortunately, some people are tone deaf when it comes to singing, as they are not aware of how others hear their singing voice. To avoid the embarrassment, record your voice on a tape while singing. Listen to how you hit each note and become familiar with your vocal range
  3. Know the type of song that will fit your voice. It will be absolute magic to sound like Freddie Mercury or Luther Vandross but if you do, then use your gift to the max, if not, you are not doom as many singers in show business have different vocal ranges and styles that makes them unique. Appreciate your style of signing and match the type of songs and melody that fits your voice. Once knowing your vocal style, you are on your way to become a singer
  4. Have confidence and likeability. The greatest problem aspiring singers face is their ability to be comfortable with themselves. If you do not show confidence, your audience will not see it either. Practice on stage performance, around family and friends and more importantly, learn to connect with your listeners so they feel can feel the music. Do not be afraid of honest critiques as singers learn to develop thick skin and understand their audience likes and dislikes.
  5. Promote yourself. The biggest part becoming a singer is developing an audience through promotion. In today’s society, aspiring singers has different methods to reach potential fans. Websites like Myspace has a special section for aspiring singers to promote their music; Youtube is another very popular website where you upload videos of your singing talent and create a fan base. Reality TV shows such as “American Idol” is a highly popular platform to jumpstart your career due to exposure on television, and become discover by major music executives to your first big break.
