How To Bet The Pass Line In Craps

If you are looking for a fast, fun and loud casino game to play, but you don't want to spend hours learning a game before betting your money, then learning how to bet the pass line in craps can be a great way to introduce yourself to the game. Spend any time in a casino and you can tell where the craps table is by the roar of the crowd because the way that craps is played. A craps shooter can go on a run and win a lot of money for everyone at the table. The pass line is the place on the craps table where you can bet that the shooter will roll certain good number before other bad numbers come up and is one of the easiest bets on a craps table to understand.

  1. Wait until the dealer turns over the two sided button to the black "Off" side. When the button is on the "Off" side, the next roll will determine the point. This is the only time when you should bet the pass line, since betting it after the point has been determined is a big-time losing bet.
  2. Place your bet in the Pass Line area of the craps table. The shooter will now roll the dice. If the roll is a 7 or 11, you double your money. If the roll is a 2, 3 or 12, you lose your bet. Any other roll becomes the "point" that the shooter will try to hit in subsequent rolls of the dice.
  3. If a point was rolled, the game continues. Your bet stays on the pass line and is still alive until the shooter either rolls the point number again, and you win your bet, or the shooter rolls a seven, and you lose your bet.
  4. Make an odds bet. After you have made a pass line bet and a point has been rolled, you can make an odds bet. An odds bet is an addition to your pass line bet and is placed right behind your pass line bet closer to you. The odds bet will win when the point is rolled and lose when a seven is rolled. Pass line odds bets are one of the only bets in a casino where the payout is exactly the same as the odds, meaning there is no house edge to the bet. On a point of 6 or 8, the odds bet pays 6 to 5, on a point of 5 or 9 the odds bet pays 3 to 2 and on a point of 4 or 10 the odds bet pays 2 to 1. Different casinos will have different maximum amounts that you can wager on an odds bet and the table placard will display this information.
