How To Block Porn Websites

Many people, especially concerned parents, want to know how to block porn websites from their computers. The good news is you can have better control in blocking porn websites through the following methods that you can do either for free or with better protection with a little cost on your end.

  1. Block porn websites through PAC file. PAC or "Proxy Auto Configuration" is being used by highly technical people who understand JavaScipt configuration. The method makes use of proxy settings to which the browser connects instead of directly connecting to the website. If your connection passes through a proxy, it acts like a security system that checks on the website first before allowing it to appear on your browser. You can actually download HostsFile.org PAC/Proxy file into your computer and install it following their instructions. It is important to configure your browser to work with the PAC file.
  2. Use software you can install to block porn websites. Software such as AOBO Porn Filter, Trusted Filtering, Sentry Parental Controls, WFilter Enterprise, HomeGuard Parental Controls and many others offer great parental control features that will help you efficiently monitor and control information browsed by children through the web. They are usually user friendly and don’t require technical skills to install it. However, expect that you may pay subscription fee for this.
  3. Block adult websites through a hardware router or a firewall. Most Internet security suites offer to block unwanted porn websites. There are security programs though that doesn't work well with blocking unwanted sites. However, you can always check on their features to start using it effectively.
  4. Block porn websites through your browser settings. If you are using Internet Explorer, go to tools, choose Internet options, then click on the security tab, then restricted site. At sites, you can add the porn website that you want to block. If you are using Firefox, you can use add-ons such as parental control for Firefox which works with Firefox 3.0 to 3.6.
  5. Block porn websites through safe Google search and browsing. Set Google to filter your browsing preferences. Click settings at google.com, select search settings then look for safe search filtering options. At Google safe search, you may choose to use strict filtering, moderate filtering or do not filter options. Choose strict filtering and lock the safe search to block porn websites and other unwanted content to block unwanted porn websites.
