Learning how to block your number isn't as sinister as people make it out to be. Sometimes you may be up to no good, like prank-calling your best friend or checking to see if your girlfriend is up to no good. You also may just want to call someone without them screening your call, deciding whether they want to answer or not. Learning how to block your phone number is an easy task that should be learned. It will more than likely come in handy one day.

In order to block your number, you will need:

  • cell phone or land line phone
  1. Determine if blocking your number is necessary. Before taking the steps to block your number, examine the reasons why you want to do this. Is this to bully/scare someone? Will these calls that you want to make possibly be illegal? If your reason for wanting to block your number isn't so innocent, you may not want to do it.
  2. Dial *-6-7 on your phone. After dialing, you should hear the same signal you heard when you picked up the phone. dial the 10 digit number of the person you would like to call. This option is only temporary, so you will have to do this every time you want your number to be blocked on caller ID.
  3. Call your service provider for more permanent options. If you want your number to be permanently unlisted, you will have to contact the customer service for your phone service provider. There will more than likely be additional fees for this option.
