Learning how to boardslide on a snowboard is fun. Boardslides on snowboards are done off rails or other grinding apparatus. Mastering the rail will bring the boardslide in naturally. The appeal of snowboarding for many is the excitement of the tricks that can be performed on a snowboard. Boardslides on snowboards are one of the most common and one of the first rail tricks you will want to master. The boardslide is also a catapult for most every other rail trick, learn it and have some fun. Just remember, the boardslide is classified as a trick and as such it can be very dangerous. Do not attempt a boardslide if you are not technically competent.

To learn how to boardslide on a snowboard you will need:

  • Snowboard
  • Snowboarding gear
  • Rail
  1. To pull off a boardslide on a snowboard you must first learn to board a rail. Rails are a fun part of snowboarding but should not be taken lightly. Strap on your gear and spend a few minutes warming up.
  2. When prepared approach the rail with knees bent and head up. Once on the mini-ramp, straighten your knees to gain air. Place the base of the snowboard on the rail and keep your head up and hands out from your sides.
  3. As the snowboard “slides” across the rail, you will be performing a boardslide on a snowboard. Continue through to the end of the rail. Your knees should be slightly bent as you ride the rail. Straighten them to give a slight push off the rail. Turn your torso towards the end of the rail and land the jump.
