Learning to buid a bike repair stand will save you money and at the same time, the do it yourself process will not only provides you with the knowledge about bikes, but also provide you with the pride of repairing a bike yourself. Building a bike repair stand may seem difficult, but it is actually as easy as following these basic steps.

  1. Build the base of the bike repair stand. A solid base is vital to a bike repair stand. You can build a stand by joining two metal bars, thus forming an H-shaped stand. Or you can use a large wooden base as your stand. There are many ways you can make a stand, so do not dictate to any single material.
  2. Build the support. Now that you have finished the base, you need a proper support structure to support your bike while it is being repaired. You may need some metal bars to form a triangular shaped end on one side of the base.
  3. Install the cross beam. The cross beam will be the part where it supports the bike on a bike repair stand. You will need two bike hooks, which you can get at local hardware store. You also need some bolts and nuts to tighten the cross beam onto the already finished stand.
  4. Finish up your bike repair stand. You can attach the cross beam to the support structure slowly. Make sure that you have a solid stand to support everything.
