How To Build A Craps Table
If you're interested in playing a realistic game of craps just like at the casino, then you'll need to know how to build a craps table. Having a homemade craps table set up beckons for an exciting game of craps. This article will guide you step-by-step in creating an easy, basic craps table.
To build a craps table you will need:
- wooden table
- billiard felt
- wood glue
- fabric glue
- screws
- plywood
- razor blade
- sander
- wood filler
- paint brush
- wood stain
- scissors
- carving knife
- tape measure
- Using a regular wood table, make any repairs to the table if needed.
- Measure the table with the tape measure to see how many 2 x 4 plywood pieces will be needed to go around the edges of the table twice.
- Cut the boards.
- Sand and stain the boards
- Place the first layer of boards around the table and screw into the table.
- Next, place the second layer of plywood on top of the first layer and screw them into the first layer.
- Fill the screw holes with wood filler.
- When the wood filler has dried, sand it down and cover it with wood stain so that it blends in with the rest of the table.
- Cut the remaining planks exactly like the first two sets.
- Lay the planks flat and carve out a shallow indention all the way down the middle where the chips will sit.
- Sand and stain the planks.
- Screw the grooved planks into the second side layer.
- Fill in the holes with wood filler and when dry, sand and stain.
- Measure the table for the billiard felt.
- Cut the fabric to fit the table.
- Cover the table with wood glue and fabric glue.
- Carefully press the felt onto the table, being sure to get into all of the corners.
- Let the glue dry before playing craps on the table.
