How To Build Duck Hunting Blind
If you want to be camouflaged while hunting duck, then you should know how to build a duck hunting blind. These come in all shapes and sizes, and learning how to build one can save you the hefty sum of buying a new one.
To build a duck hunting blind, you will need:
- 6 wooden posts, 6 feet tall (each)
- 36 feet of chicken wire, 4 feet tall
- 1/2 inch sheet of plywood, 4 feet by 8 feet
- 1 pound framing nails
- Axe
- Chainsaw
- Sledgehammer
- Wire Cutters
- Tape Measure
- Paint
- Tree Branches
- Start by sharpening the ends of the 6 wooden posts, using the chainsaw or axe. Drive the first post two feet into the ground, and another one into the ground at a distance of 8 feet. Continue driving the posts into the ground until you form a rectangle that is 8 feet by 4 feet.
- Now, start by nailing your chicken wire to the first post, and then continuing to nail it to the outside of each post. Remember to leave one end of the chicken wire loose by not nailing it down. This will be your entrance.
- Now paint the outside of the chicken wire, so that it blends into the surrounding. If you are unsure which color to use, just use dark green.
- Now push tree branches through the chicken wire, so that most of the chicken wire is camouflaged. Lean some of the larger branches against the bottom of the structure, so that the duck hunting blind looks natural.
- Now, use a saw to cut the 4 by 8 feet of plywood in half, and place it in the duck hunting blind to make a floor. This doesn't need to be attached to the structure, it simply needs to offer support for a chair or person.
