Learning how to build a garage is something many men should know when it is time to improve their homes. A garage is a safe place to house your things and your car. Garages can protect your car from theft and weather damage. Having one is a huge deal and it makes sense to create opportunities to preserve what you have. Knowing how to build a garage is a great thing to know to preserve what you have.

You will need:

  • Lumber
  • Steel reinforcement rods
  • Window glass
  • Blueprints (any set of garage blueprints will do)
  • Garage door, opener and frame
  1. Review your blueprints to make sure that for every window, and door, you have the window and door that fits the blueprint.
  2. Frame the garage based on your blueprints. Make sure that the frame coincides with the blueprint and that any reinforcing bars and poles are critically designed. Check all windows and door frames to make sure they are done properly. Poor framing occurs most commonly along corners, doors, and windows. Improper framing can lead to collapse, truss lift and structural failure.
  3. All electrical and plumbing additions should follow immediately. Add drywall and any required paneling. This is crucial to the project. Wiring and plumbing must be inspected and set up properly before dry-walling.
  4. Add vinyl siding and paint. Commence inspection of the final product. Inspections should take into account the quality of the building material and the business involved. If you want to build a two car garage, your structure should be strong enough to endure some level of damage. Garages get hit all the time by cars, and it must not collapse from just a modest scrape.
