Learning how to build a grind rail for a snowboard is not too difficult, though it can take some time. The right location, materials, and a good chunk of time devoted to setting up the rail are necessary. Following is how to build a snowboard grind rail.

  1. First, select an ideal location. Most likely, you will want this set up on a hill, where boarders can gain momentum before hopping onto the rail to grind. Before actually learning how to build the grind rail for snowboards, make sure you have a nice spot for it on property that you are allowed to use and build on.
  2. Next, you will have to purchase an outdoor, metal stair rail, which will be installed in the ground. Visit any major home improvement store to find a stair rail, and be sure to purchase one that lacks any extra protrusions. Also make sure it is up to your standards; do not get one that is too short, as replacing the rail takes serious time once it is built.
  3. Buy some cement, which will be used to secure the rail in the ground. Then, in the right spot, dig holes where the ends and supports of the rail will go into the ground. Dig out one to two foot deep holes with about one foot diameters. Now, to build the grind rail for a snowboard, you will be setting the rail in place.
  4. Once the holes are dug (and this must be done when weather is above freezing) mix concrete in a large vat or wheel barrow, and pour it into the holes. Then, before the concrete has begun to set, set the rail in it, and prop it up so that the cement dries it into place. Then, use the rail after it is built.

Learning how to build a grind rail for a snowboard is fairly simple, but you must use the right materials and devote enough time to its construction. After it is built, however, the process will seem worth its minor costs.
