Burning carbs is the first thing the body does when burning fat. The less carbs eaten, the faster you will lose weight.
Counting carbs requires two things:
- A mathematical operation
- A nutrition label
- To begin counting carbs, find the Nutrition Facts label on each and every product you want, or plan, to eat. Find the total carbohydrates and make a mental note of the amount.
- Underneath the total carbohydrates will be the dietary fiber. Make another mental note of this amount.
- Subtract the dietary fiber amount from the total carbohydrates to find your net carbohydrate content. Counting carbs is a way to find the net carb content, which is ideally the amount your body absorbs.
Once you know how to successfully burn fat by counting carbs, you can test it out on different diets. The point of counting carbs is to lose weight. You can't burn fat if you don't know how many carbs you're supposed to be consuming. A well-known carb counting diet is the Atkins Diet. Two others are the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet and the Zone Diet. These diets all have counting carbs in mind but with different ways to stay under the normal healthy intake of 40 to 60 carbs a day. The Atkins Diet allows only twenty grams a day, while the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet only permits one carb meal a day. The Zone Diet divides food into blocks and counts carbs from there. Without this method of counting carbs to burn fat, these diets would be useless.
