How To Buy Luxurious Sheets
Taking the time to learn how to buy luxurious sheets may be the best investment for your relaxation. When you come home from a long, grueling day at work, few things are finer than taking a shower and crawling into bed with soft, quality luxury sheets. Even with a salesperson, well-labeled packaging and the extensive bedding sections at the local department store, it may be difficult to find the right sheets. When you're shopping, come armed with the size of your bed and follow these steps.
- Go to your favorite department store if you're a first-time sheet buyer. Luxury sheets may be less expensive online, but when you're just learning, you should do so in person. Locate the bedding section and shop by yourself before you ask for anyone's help.
- Choose your sheet material. Do you want fuzzy, warm sheets (flannel), cool silky sheets (silk, sateen) or soft crisp sheets (cotton)? Look for these labels on the sheet sets to immediately qualify the choices.
- Choose your thread count. Thread counts are the number of threads that pass through each square inch of fabric, and are the most important indicators of sheet quality. When it comes to thread count, the higher the better. Luxury sheets generally have thread counts of at least 400. Eliminate sheet sets with low thread count if you want to buy high quality sheets.
- Choose a color you like, in the right sheet material and thread count, then unzip the package and run your hand along the sheet. If you don't like the feel, switch to a different material. If you would like the sheets to be softer, switch to a higher thread count.
Tips: Make sure you buy a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and a couple of pillow cases for a full set. Many quality sheets are sold individually rather than in sets. Remember the brand, sheet material and thread count you choose, for future shopping.
