How To Buy Rims
One way to spruce up a car's look is to know how to buy rims for it. You can buy rims at a brick and mortar store, or you can purchase them online. With many options to choose from, the rims may be in stock or they may need to be ordered.
- Determine your rim size. The diameter of your rim size will be located on the tires itself. On the side of your tire will be a size that looks similar to P215/65/R15. The last number is the rim size. In this case, it is a 15-inch rim. The rim size is generally stamped on the rim itself, but it may be hard to find.
- Start shopping to buy rims. These can be done in one of two ways. You can find rims you like first, then check to see if they are available in your size. Or you can shop by size, then find the rims you like in that size. Either way works fine. However, if you select the rims you like and they are not available in your size, it could lead to disappointment.
- Getting your tires mounted. After you have purchased your new rims, you will need to have your tires mounted and balanced. If you buy rims from a tire store or garage, chances are they have the necessary equipment to do this for you. If you buy rims online, you will have to find a garage to have this done.
So you have bought your new rims and your tires are mounted, it is time to take it for a test drive. It is recommended to test drive the car as soon as you pick it up. That way if there are any problems, you can return to the garage and have them correct any necessary changes to the balances of the tire. Although it is not necessary, it is recommended that you have your vehicle aligned as well to ensure the best possible performance and ride from your tires and rims.
