How To Buy Ski Goggles

If you've never bought ski gear before, you may be wondering how to buy ski goggles. Ski goggles are an important piece of your skiing arsenal as they protect your eyes against glare and, of course, objects like dirt and ice. Luckily, ski goggles are one of the least daunting types of ski gear to buy. Just make sure that you visit a store with a good selection of goggles so that you can choose ones that fit correctly and offer the kinds of features you might be after, such as vents.

  1. Visit a sporting goods store or a reputable ski shop to make your purchase. Consider the type of lens tint you are after. Yellow tints are good for cloudy, low-light conditions. Dark tints, like grey or green, are good for bright conditions. Polarized lenses are another good option for ski goggles as they reduce the glare caused by the sun reflecting off the snow.
  2. Look for ski goggles that offer UV (ultraviolet light) protection. You can also look for ski goggles which have other useful features, like anti-fog vents or an anti-fog coating.
  3. Try on several different types of ski goggles before settling on what you want. The foam padding on the goggles should fit snugly against your face, making a good seal. However, your ski goggles should not pinch your face. If you wear prescription glasses, make sure to try on the ski goggles over your glasses to see how well they fit.
  4. Check your peripheral vision. The ideal pair of ski goggles will allow you to have a full 180 degrees of unobstructed vision.
