  1. Determine the style of snowboarding you desire to do.  There is the basic down hill snowboarding and there is park terrain snowboarding that requires doing a lot of stunts.  To do stunts on snowboards, the snowboard will require more flexibility.
  2. Know how tall you are.  The length of a snowboard is measured in centimeters.  When standing up the snowboard should reach the tip of your nose.
  3. Know how much you weigh.  Heavy riders will want a board that has a stiffer flex to it, so the snowboard can support them.
  4. The length of your feet should not be longer than the width of the snowboard.  This is important to remember when learning how to buy a snowboard.  When the rider is standing on the snowboard in their rider stance, the boots should be equal or slightly over the edges of the snowboard.  The feet control how the snowboard carves, you don't want to drag your toes down the hill.
  5. Your riding ability contributes to what type of board needed.  There are snowboards on the market for every type of snowboarder.  Determine what category you fall into: beginner, intermediate or advanced. These categories determine how to buy a snowboard.

The board should be of good quality.  Snowboarding is a vigorous sport.  Finding a durable snowboard is important when discovering how to buy a snowboard.
