Are you wondering how to buy a suit for the summer? Summer suits for men offer great versatility and allow for a little more fun than during the rest of the year. When choosing a seasonal suit, whether for business or events, it is important to pick a cool and comfortable fabric that looks and feels good. Fabric shouldn’t weigh you down in the heat. Here are some tips to choosing the perfect suit.

In order to buy a summer suit, you will need:

  • Suits to try on
  • Money to spend

Steps

  1. Choose the fabric. There are three fabric choices that work best in warmer weather: cotton blends, linen, and seersucker. Natural cotton fibers allow for breathability while retaining a tailored look. Cotton has wicking qualities, and actually absorbs perspiration while leaving the fabric dry to the touch. Linen also breathes well and has classic appeal, but wrinkles easily. Using starch when ironing can help prevent linen from wrinkling. Seersucker does not require ironing and is very lightweight given the puckering of the fabric. Choosing one of these fabrics will ensure the greatest comfort. No need to swelter in your wool suit.
  2. Express yourself. Unlike winter suits, summer suits can be light in color, so have some fun with your options. Cream or khaki suits look fabulous and can be paired with bright colored shirts or accents, like colorful ties or socks. Navy is also a classy color choice and looks great with a crisp white shirt and bright accents.
  3. Footwear. Footwear should be more casual if possible. Choose lightweight trouser socks to go with your suit, or loafers that don’t require socks at all. With the right suit this look is cool, comfortable and classy.
