How Can Exercise Lower Chances For A Heart Attack?

There are many ways how exercise lowers the chances for a heart attack. But, first, it is important to understand the causes of a heart attack.

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is one of the leading reasons for heart attacks. This condition is a buildup of plaque in the coronary arteries. When an artery becomes completely clogged with plaque, no blood can travel through and a heart attack will occur. High cholesterol, obesity and high blood pressure are contributing factors to this disease.

High blood pressure causes the heart to work harder to pump blood while obesity creates high levels of fat within the artery walls and effects blood circulation and blood pressure. All these symptoms are intertwined and exercise can greatly reduce the chance of heart attack.

Exercise helps lower cholesterol by reducing the level of triglycerides in your bloodstream. In turn, exercise increases HDL, which you want. HDL is “good” cholesterol. High levels of HDL help control the amount of plaque buildup and keep your arteries clean. Exercise also reduces the chanc eof developing atherosclerosis, inflammation of the arteries, which leads to heart disease and possible heart attack.

Regular exercise also makes the heart stronger which means it can pump more blood with little effort. Because the heart isn’t exerting itself to pump the blood, your blood pressure decreases, therefore decreasing the chance of a heart attack. All in all exercise helps decreases the symptoms that lead to heart attack.

Just 30 minutes of exercise a day can help reduce the chance of heart attack.
