How to find someone's cell phone number used to be a challenge—but these days, there is no such thing as a private person. As long as you have Internet access, most people’s contact information is readily available.
- First, try a simple online search. Type in the name of the person you are looking for, followed by variations of the phrase, “cell phone number.” If you are trying to locate Jane Brown’s phone number, for example, try searching, “Jane Brown cell phone number.” Also try typing in the phrase, “Jane Brown contact info.” This may lead you to the blog, personal website, or work site for the person you are looking for.
- Use social networking. If the first search doesn’t work, try searching for the phone number using Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn. If you share friends with the person you want to contact, ask them to help you find his phone number, or just send the person a message directly.
- Send an email. You may be able to locate the email address of the person you are looking for through these channels before you find the phone number, and many people check their email throughout the day, so sending an email may turn out to be just as effective as calling.
- Consider the alternatives. If none of these options get results, think about what else you know about this person. Do you know where she works? It may be possible to find her cell phone number through her office. Do you have the phone numbers or email addresses of any of her friends or family members? Finding someone’s cell phone number might be as easy as finding her best friend’s cell phone number. Even if you don’t have the phone number or email address of a friend of the person you are looking for, you might be able to find them; Repeat the social networking strategy, but this time, focus on finding friends of the person you really want to find. Most people will be happy to help.
