To lose ten pounds in a week you'll need:

  • Lean meats like boneless skinless chicken breast, fish, pork
  • Vegetables like green leafy vegetables and non-starchy produce
  • Low fat dairy like cottage cheese, sharp cheddar, skim milk
  • Steamer or a pot and a collander
  • Workout clothes
  • Sneakers
  • Jump rope (optional)
  • Reusable water bottle
  1. Cut calories. If you’re asking yourself, “How can I lose ten pounds in a week?” the answer is simple. Stop snacking! The only real way to lose ten pounds in one week is cutting calories. For one week you’ll need to completely cut snacks out of your diet. Eat a small breakfast, lunch and dinner each day and save yourself all the unnecessary snack calories.
  2. Balanced meals. Your three daily meals should consist of one small portion of lean protein, one small portion of low-fat dairy and as many vegetables as you’d like. Your protein portion should be no larger than a deck of playing cards. To keep yourself feeling full with fewer calories, fill up on green leafy vegetables. Steam all of your food without butter and stay away from sauces and condiments.
  3. Stop eating carbs. Did you notice that carbohydrates weren’t mentioned in step two? If you’re serious about losing ten pounds in a week, you’re going to have to make some sacrifices. Cutting out carbohydrates is one of those sacrifices. Pasta, bread and cookies are all off limits. Simple carbohydrates make you bloated and don’t give you the energy you need to make it through the day.
  4. Exercise. You didn’t honestly think you could lose ten pounds in a week without exercising, did you? Cardio is the quickest and easiest way to lose weight. Everyday during the week you’ll need to do at least an hour of cardio. Put on a comfortable pair of sneakers and jog, jump rope, climb stairs, etc. Skip the weights this week. Weight training won’t give you the immediate weight loss you’re looking for.
  5. H20. Water is your friend. To stop yourself from snacking you’ll want to carry a bottle around with you. Flavored water is fine as long as there are no calories in it. If plain water isn’t your style, try drinking seltzer with a lemon slice. Feeling full on less calories will help you lose weight fast.
