How to Change Bulb

Knowing how to changing a light bulb is easy and it is something that you will need to do on a regular basis. It is very important that you keep yourself safe when you do need to change a bulb. Below you will see how to effectively and safely change a bulb in your home.

      Things you will need:

  • A new light bulb
  • Waste basket
  1. Turn light switch off. This is the first thing you should do when changing a light bulb. This is to protect you from possible electrocution when changing your bulb.
  2. Unscrew old light bulb from fixture. If you are standing on a chair or stool, be careful not to fall while you are taking the broken light bulb out. You also need to make sure that the bulb is not working by checking the filament inside the bulb. You can do this by putting the bulb near your ears and shaking it. If you hear a jingle inside the bulb, this confirms the bulb is no longer good.
  3. Screw in new bulb. Take the new bulb that you bought and screw it into the light fixture. Now all you have to do is turn the light switch back on to make sure the new bulb works.

Tips & Warnings:

  • Immediately throw away broken bulb in waste basket so you do not become injured from a shattered bulb.
