If you are not comfortable with your old lock combination, you may want to know how to change a combination on a briefcase. It is a good idea to change the combination on your briefcase every now and then, just in case someone gets access to it. Make sure to pick something that is easy enough for you to remember. As long as you have the original combination of your lock, you can easily change the combination on your briefcase.

  1. Dial the current combination. The briefcase should open when you have the correct combination. If it does not open, then most likely you have dialed the incorrect combination on your briefcase. Dial the combination again until the briefcase opens. Once the briefcase opens, close it, and then dial the combination once more.
  2. Slide the buttons. Slide the buttons on the briefcase in the opposite direction from the original direction that you would normally slide them to open it. Make sure that you have the current combination dialed in so that it will work.
  3. Enter your new combination. Dial your new combination to make it whatever you choose. Make sure that it is difficult enough and not obvious, like a birthday, but make it easy enough for you to remember. Do not make the new combination close to the current combination on your briefcase.
  4. Set your new combination. First, release the button. Once you have dialed in your new combination, be sure to spin the dial and then re-enter your new combination. This will set your new combination and the briefcase should open. Repeat this step if the briefcase does not open.
