• A new password that's difficult to crack.

1. Sign in to your Facebook account. This should be straight forward for most people. Just type your email address and your current password into the designated fields, and press “Login.”
2. Go to your account settings page. Now that you’ve logged in, you’ll be at your home page. Go to the top right corner of your home page, and click “Account.” A drop-down menu will appear, and choose “Account Settings” from the list.
3. Change your password. It starts out on the “Settings” tab by default, but if you didn't end up there, click the "Settings" tab. About halfway down the list of options, just under “Email,” you’ll see “Password” on the left. Look to the right of it, and click the "Change" link. The information to change your password unfolds from this area. Type your current password in the "Old Password box. Then, type in your new password in the "New Password" box, and confirm your new password by typing it in again in the "Confirm Password" box. When you’re finished, press "Change Password."
