Have you ever thought to yourself, "I need to know how to change my Xbox Live gamer tag"? Sometimes, it becomes necessary to learn how to change your Xbox Live gamer tag. For instance, you might change your mind on the name after you make it, or you might accidentally format it incorrectly. Whatever the reason, it is a simple process to change your Xbox Live gamer tag; however, it will cost a small price in order to do it. Currently, Microsoft charges 800 Microsoft points, or $10, for the process.
- Turn on the console. To do this, press the power button on the console, or press the Xbox 360 button in the middle of the controller. It is not possible to change your Xbox Live gamer tag on your Xbox 360 without first turning it on, after all. Don't forget to sign in.
- Go to your profile. When the console loads to the dashboard, navigate to the "My Xbox" section. From there, you will need to select your profile by pressing "A."
- Change your gamer tag. Select "Edit Profile," followed by "Gamertag." From here, you will need to review the terms Microsoft offers, as well as purchase the necessary points if they are not already in your account.
- Make the changes you wish. If your gamer tag is "Gamer1234" and you want to change it to "Bunnies9344," then go right ahead. You can now change it to anything you want, provided the name is not taken. If you only want to change the formatting of your gamer tag, you will need to spend the extra $10 because you cannot just change capitalization of a tag. Therefore, you must change it to a random, unique gamer tag and immediately edit the gamer tag to your desired choice. Unfortunately, this is the only way to do this as of now.
Tip: make sure you choose something unique and something you enjoy. After all, you don't want to have to spend another $10 to change it again in a few days.
