Looking for directions on how to change ringtone on iPhone? In addition to being able to change the default ringtone on your iPhone, you can also change the ringtone for individual contacts on your iPhone. By following the below steps, you can change ringtones on an iPhone in less than a minute. The iPhone supports both polyphonic and MP3 ringtones. You can create your own ringtone or you can purchase a ringtone through a ringtone website or iTunes.

To change ringtones on an iPhone, you will need:

  • Your iPhone
  • Ringtones installed on your iPhone
  1. Changing The Default Ringtone. To change the default ringtone on an iPhone, you will need to tap the Settings icon, which is located on the Home screen on your iPhone. Once the settings load, tap the Sounds icon and then the Ringtone icon. You will then be able to browse the ringtones that you have installed on your iPhone and select the new ringtone that you would like to change to.
  2. Changing Contact Ringtones. You can change contact ringtones on an iPhone by tapping the Contacts icon to load your phone book. When your contacts load, tap the contact that you would like to change the ringtone for. Once the contact appears on your iPhone, tap Ringtone and then select the ringtone that you would like to assign to that contact. When that contact calls you, instead of your default ringtone playing, the ringtone that you set will play.

Tip:

  • If you are heading into school or work and need to silence the ringtone on your iPhone, you can do so by flipping the Ring/Silent switch to Silent. That switch is located on the left hand side of your iPhone.
