How To Change Your iTunes Desktop Icon

Do you want to learn how to change your iTunes desktop icon? Apple’s iTunes is a default music organizing and playing application on all Mac computers. You can also download iTunes for Windows for free from Apple’s website. iTunes lets you organize your music with custom and smart playlists, subscribe to podcasts purchase music, movies, TV shows and applications from the iTunes store. iTunes also features Genius Playlists and Genius Suggestions to help you discover new music. If you want to change your iTunes desktop icon, the process is very easy. All you need is to find a new icon you like to make the change. Make sure the icon you choose is a standard icon size to keep your desktop icon appearance clean and smooth.

  1. Find a replacement icon that you like online. There are a wide variety of websites that provide cool icons you can download for free and professionally designed icons that you can buy. Some companies even offer icon packages to give all of your default applications a new look.
  2. Once you have downloaded your new icon, open it with Preview. Select the entire icon and copy it to your clipboard by pressing the “Command” (Apple) and “C” keys.
  3. Go to your applications folder and click on iTunes once, without opening it. Click on “File,” then “Get Info.”
  4. Click on the small icon. It's located in the upper left hand corner of the Get Info dialogue box, then paste from your clipboard by pressing the “Command” (Apple) and “V” keys.

Congratulations, you have just changed your iTunes icon. You can apply this process to any application and customize all of your icons for a totally personalized dock.
