Don't waste time trying to figure out how to check your credit online. Millions are constantly wondering what may be on their credit. In today's society credit is very important. That is why it is very important to be able to check your credit at your own convenience. With online resources, you can check your credit any time day or night.

To check your credit online, you will need:

  • access to a computer
  • access to the internet
  1. Go directly to a reputable site. With all the online gimmicks, it may be hard to find a reputable credit report site. Be careful not to enter any personal information into sites that are not legitimate. Entering your information frivolously can lead to identity theft. You don't have to be a victim. The internet offers sites like freecreditreport.com. However, sites like this charge you money to see your credit report. You may also have to sign up with some sponsors. This is not absolutely necessary. The best place to get your credit report is directly from one of the three credit bureaus. To get your official credit report visit www.annualcreditreport.com.
  2. Pick your credit bureau. Once you go to the website above, you will have to choose which credit bureau you would like a report from. You can choose to view one credit report or all three of them. When checking your credit report, you can get a report from Equifax, Transunion, or Experian. By law you are only allowed one free credit report per year for each bureau. So if you are not trying to spend money, check one. Then later on that year you can check another.
  3. Answer personal questions. When you go to check your credit report, you will be required to answer some personal financial questions. These questions must be answered as correctly as possible. The purpose of the questions is to identify that the person trying to gain access is actually the person who the report belongs to. If you don't answer the questions correctly, you will be required to request your credit report through the mail.
  4. Get your report. Once you have answered the self identifying questions properly you will have access to your credit report. This process literally only takes minutes. Once you have looked over your report you can pay to be able to see it again at a later date. If you do not want to pay, you can print the report. Once you have seen your report with one credit bureau, you can go back and check the others.
