How to choose an amplifier for your car system can be rather difficult.  Although there are many choices, you can narrow them down rather quickly.  Take the following considerations into account when choosing an amplifier for your car.

1. Decide on what type of amplifier you want for your car.  The type of car amplifier should be first on your list to help you decide which amplifier to purchase for your car.  A mono car amplifier will power one speaker, a two channel amplifier will power two speakers and one subwoofer, and a four channel amplifier will power four speakers and two subwoofers.  Choose according to your car system setup or plans.
2. Determine your price range.  Depending on how much of a budget you have for your speaker, amplifier, subwoofer, and stereo setup, you will need to allocate a budget to each part (if you are purchasing other parts as well).  Decide on a budget for an amplifier to limit yourself, as it is tempting to purchase something out of your price range.
3. Choose an amplifier that is compatible with your current car setup.  If you are only adding an amplifier, and not other parts of your sound system, you must ensure that the amplifier will work with your current system.  For instance, if you are using a factory stereo, the car amplifier must be capable of processing speaker signals from the factory stereo.  Also, the amplifier should be able to coordinate with your subwoofers and number of speakers for much better sound quality.
