Want to learn about how to choose glasses frames? Over the years glasses have not only just become about helping you see, they have become their own industry and fashion accessory. They have turned from a tool into something stylish, unique and designer. This is why it is so important to choose glasses frames that are right for you. Your glasses can say a lot about you, so finding frames that match your style, face shape and features will help them say all the right things.

  1. Look at a mirror and find your personal best feature. This is good to know before you go pick out frames because you should choose glasses that enhance this feature. For example, if you have blue eyes, going with frames that have blue undertones would help those eyes stand out.
  2. See what type of face shape you have. According to the Opticians of America, there are seven basic face shapes: oval, round, oblong, base-down triangle, base-up triangle, diamond and square. It is recommended that your frames contrast this shape. If you have a round face, choose square or diamonds to offset your face. Likewise, your head shape is just as important. If you have a small head, choose small frames that fit. Avoid frames that are too small, that squeeze your temples or do not reach fully back around your ears.
  3. Choosing small frames if you have facial hair, or if you have long hair, pulling it back before trying on glasses, is important because that could be the difference between the right and the wrong pair of glasses. Be sure to allow some time before choosing the right pair of frames. Try on several pairs so you can become familiar with the different shapes, and you will eventually find the ones that are right for you.
