So, you are ready to purchase a new longboard and need to know how to choose a longboard skateboard. It can be a little bit frustrating when trying to purchase a longboard for the first time and you don't know exactly what to look for. A longboard skateboard is just a little bit longer than a regular skateboard. The wheels on a longboard are a little bit bigger, which provides for a smoother and faster ride. You just want to make sure that you purchase a good quality longboard that will last you for a while.

  1. Determine your need for the board. With all the different types of longboards you have to decide your purpose for purchasing one. Where do you plan and what do you plan to use the board for?  A longboard skateboard can be used for multiple purposes such as; just for cruising, for competitions, doing tricks, or going downhill. Consider what will be the main function of your board to help you decide what type of board you will need.
  2. Do your research.  Different forums and websites online can help you to find additional information about longboard skateboards. Look up longboard manufactures, differently types, styles, and parts to see what's out there and what they have to offer. Look up budgets, and specifics about different boards. All of this will help you when you go to a store to purchase a longboard skateboard.
  3. Go to a longboard skateboard store. Ask questions to the employees. They are knowledgeable enough that they will be able to assist you with any questions and point you in the right directions to help you when you purchase a longboard skateboard. The employees can give you details, the pros and cons of different boards.
  4. Test the longboard skateboard. You will be able to get a better feel of what you like and don't like. You will be able to determine the way that certain boards ride, and the different levels of responsiveness for different boards. Testing a board is a good way to help you narrow down your options to find that perfect longboard skateboard that fits you and your needs.
