Knowing how to choose a propane stove is a definite must if you plan on camping for any length of time. Nothing builds up an appetite quite like outdoor activity, and you’ll want to have quick, easy access to food. This, of course, is where a propane stove, as opposed to building a fire, comes in handy. Take the following factors into consideration when entertaining the idea of getting a propane stove for yourself.

  1. Make sure the propane stove you choose can take a beating. Before even going to the store, check out consumer reviews to see which portable stove brands are the most durable. It will undoubtedly be dropped, crushed and shaken in your camping pack, so a tough stove with a solid design is a necessity.
  2. Consider the stove’s ease of use and function. Propane stoves are generally well-liked among campers because of their convenience. They heat up almost immediately. So, to get a propane stove that is difficult to handle would defeat its own purpose of convenience. For instance, some stoves come with removable parts to make cleaning and maintenance easier. While features like these may cost more, they are often worth it when put to use.
  3. Pay attention the stove’s size and weight. Though most portable stoves are relatively light, one of a larger size may prove difficult to carry. Even if it seems easy enough to pick up in the store, keep in mind that it is likely going to be in your pack everywhere you go on your camping trip. Choosing a propane stove that you can comfortably carry may be the difference between a refreshing hike and a miserable one.
  4. Take safety measures into consideration. Propane stoves are often used inside tents by campers. Though this is not recommended, if you’re experienced enough to do so comfortably, be certain that the stove you choose has a safe design, and there is plenty of ventilation. Using this information in tandem with the aforementioned tips, you’ll be able to find the perfect propane stove for your next camping trip.
