How To Choose A Ski Snowboard Helmet

How to choose a ski snowboard helmet is something that every serious snowboarder has wondered. Helmets don’t need to have every bell and whistle as their sole function is to protect the head in the event of a serious fall. Snowboarding and skiing produce thousands of injuries worldwide each year. Unfortunately, some of these injuries result in deaths. Most deaths in snowboarding and skiing come from skiing into trees and hitting the head. Selecting a helmet is the most important duty a snowboarder can perform.

  1. Perform online research. Go on the internet and take a look at the plethora of helmets available for sale. Helmets have varying features that include sun visors, knit ear kits and audio integration. Some helmets have all of this extra gear that can make the helmet heavier.
  2. Reduce the number of helmets down to a few favorites. Reducing the total number of helmets down to just a few possibilities is important. You couldn’t possibly look at hundreds of helmets, so targeting two to seven good helmets for a close inspection makes sense.
  3. Go into a shop and feel the helmet. Try it on. Actually feeling the weight of the helmet on your head is invaluable. Your neck and shoulders will bear this weight during your downhill trek. If the weight is cumbersome or the fit is too loose, the helmet can block your vision and cause accidents. If the fit is too tight, the helmet can cut off your circulation. Features at this point should be a non-issue. All of the desired feature requirements were taken care of in step one.
  4. Make your final selection. Your choice should be the ideal helmet for you with all of your desired features. All you have to do is make sure your final choice fits your head well.

This quick guide to picking a good snowboarding helmet should help you arrive at the best helmet for you. Each snowboarder has unique needs. Helmet style, fit and feature needs are no different.
