How To Choose Trail Running Socks

If it's time to purchase new socks for your outdoor activities, you might be wondering how to choose trail running socks. Running trails requires different socks and shoes than regular pavement running. In order to be the comfortable that you can be, you will need to choose the right trail running socks to wear on your next run. When you go shopping, be sure that you buy plenty of them, since you are likely to use them several times per week.

  1. Don't be afraid of wool. Unlike many years ago, wool now is itch free and soft. You can wear them for running trails and they will protect your feet and legs against moisture and blistering.
  2. Match weights. When you are deciding on a trail running sock, you will probably come across a variety of sock weights. Choose the ones that have a weight that is similar to your running shoes. If your shoes are a heavy weight, then your socks should be too.
  3. Try them on. Even though sock packages generally say which size shoe they will fit, this is not always the case. You should always try your socks on before you buy them. This prevents irritation from occurring when the socks fit incorrectly.

Remember to try different materials, weights and sizes before you choose the right trail running socks for you. If you want to keep your feet happy and healthy, it's important to buy good quality running socks. When you hit the trail, you'll be glad you did.
