Want to learn about how to clean 14k gold? When attempting to clean 14k gold jewelry, it is important to know a few simple things.  Never use toothpaste or abrasive cleaners.  This will scratch the gold.  You want the gold to shine and look new.  With these simple steps you can make any dull 14k gold look almost new again.

Here is what you will need to clean 14k gold:

  • liquid jewelry cleaner
  • warm water
  • small brush
  • mild detergent
  • chamois
  • soft cloth
  1. Clean the 14k gold jewelry as the directions specify on the jewelry cleaner.  If you don't have liquid jewelry cleaner you can use warm water mixed with a few drops of mild detergent.
  2. Dip a small brush like a toothbrush into the liquid and gently scrub the 14k gold with the brush.  Make sure not to scrub too hard; you don't want to scratch the gold.  This will help remove stubborn dirt.  It also helps if you use a brush with soft bristles to prevent scratching the gold. Sometimes the liquid jewelry cleaners come with smaller brushes. A Q-tip will also work to clean the 14k gold.
  3. Rinse with warm water and dry the 14k gold with a clean cloth.  Don't leave the solution on the gold too long, this can also damage the gold and make it tarnish.  Polish it with a piece of chamois, to make it shine.
  4. Let the gold air dry if you don't plan on wearing it.  Storing the gold with any water on it will more than likely cause damage.

You will be shocked by the positive results of these easy steps for cleaning 14k gold.
