How To Clean Flat Screen Televisions
Learning how to clean flat screen televisions properly can help you avoid damaging it and may even help to prolong its life. Since a new flat screen television is a costly purchase, maintaining and caring for it correctly is very important.
To clean a flat screen television you will need the following supplies:
- A soft cloth
- Cleaning product made for television screens
- Wipe down the TV. Unplug the TV before attempting to clean it. It is always best to err on the side of safety when dealing with electronics. Wipe the TV housing and screen with a dry cloth to remove dust. A lint free, microfiber cloth works best and is least likely to scratch the screen or leave lint behind.
- Remove fingerprints and smudges. Use another clean, soft cloth dampened with a little bit of a commercial cleaning product on the screen, use only one made specifically for the type of flat screen television that you have. Spray the cleaner on the cloth and not on the screen. Do not use a glass cleaner because many common cleaning products can damage the delicate screens.
Be careful to wipe the screen very gently. Some flat screen televisions are very fragile and can be damaged by too much pressure. Also dust the front and back of the television regularly. Dust and electronics do not mix. It can cause the television to overheat. Once you are finished cleaning your flat screen television, sit back and enjoy the unobstructed view of your favorite show or movie.
