What you will need to get cleaning:

  • Skateboard
  • Brush (nylon)
  • Water
  • Bucket
  • Towel

How to clean grip tape for a skateboard:

  1. Find somewhere you can sit and scrub away. Place the skateboard wheels down. Place the bristles of the brush in the bucket of water. Get the brush good and wet.
  2. Using large strokes, run the brush over the grip tape. Work from nose to tail and back again. Be sure to pay extra attention to where the trucks attach to the skateboard.
  3. Rinse the brush on occasion to get the dirt and debris off it. Continue this until the grip tape appears clean. Take the towel and rub down the skateboard. This will do two things: one, help dry the grip tape and second, remove any additional particles of dirt or debris.

Tip:

There is no need for detergent to clean the grip tape.
