How To Clean Hard Water Stains
Knowing how to clean hard water stains can help to save you a lot of time and effort. Hard water stains can be very difficult to clean as time passes, so it is best to address them as soon as possible.
You Will Need
- White Vinegar
- Liquid Detergent
- Petroleum Jelly
- If the hard water stains are in your bathtub or sinks, a mixture of vinegar and water should clean it right up. Spray the vinegar and water solution on the hard water stains and allow them to sit for about half an hour. After the time has passed, use a water-soaked sponge to wash away the hard water stains. Vinegar also works well for cleaning toilets.
- To clean hard water stains that are on surfaces such as aluminum, glass, or copper, a solution of white vinegar, liquid detergent, and water should work. Do not spray the solution directly on the surfaces. To clean the hard water stains, spray the solution on a sponge or cloth and rub the stains with it. After cleaning with the solution, rinse the surface well with warm water and let it dry.
- Cleaning hard water stains from wood surfaces can be a little more tricky. In order to clean the hard water stains on wood, rub the affected area with petroleum jelly. Continue to rub the affected area until you notice the hard water stains disappearing. Once you have completely cleaned the hard water stain, use a chamois to wipe away the petroleum jelly.
The best way to clean a hard water stain is to clean it as soon as you notice it. Doing so will eliminate the need for extra work later on.
