How To Clean An iPod
Knowing how to clean an iPod is a simple, straightforward procedure that will keep your music player shiny and new looking. An iPod can get grubby pretty fast in your pocket while your oily hands are constantly fumbling around with it. This surface mess is not only unsightly, but could eventually affect your iPod’s performance should your 'Doritos' crumbs find their way inside. So keep it clean. It is important to note that when you clean your iPod, you do not want to get any moisture inside any of the openings.
To clean an iPod, you will need:
- Lint free cloth
- Water
- Soap
- Pre-Op. When you are going to clean an iPod, you will first need to turn it off, remove the earbuds, cables or any cords attached to the player. Now put your iPod on ‘Hold’ and place it on a soft cloth.
- Clean the iPod. Lint free cloth is available at any store under brand names like Miracle Cloth. You can also use a makeup sponge, some brands of paper towel, an undershirt or anything else that will not leave a trail of lint. Get a cup of warm water and dip a corner of your lint free cloth into it. Squeeze out the excess water and gently wipe away the oily, slimy exterior of your filthy iPod. If you are a notorious eater of greasy foods, you may wish to add a few drops of a mild, non fragrant soap to the water. If you do this, make sure you use plain water afterwards to wipe up any soap residue. It is important to stress once again that you should be very careful when wiping around switches and earbud ports. You do not want to get any moisture inside.
- Clean the earbuds. Earbuds can get just as grubby as the iPod. Luckily, a few gentle swipes of soap and water is all it will take to clean them. Take a lint free cloth, dip it in solution of warm water with a few drops of a mild, non fragrant soap and carefully clean the earbuds. Use a gentle, round motion to clean and do not press too hard. Now dip your cloth in water only, squeeze out the excess and wipe away any soap residue.
- Dry run. Wipe every good with a dry, lint free cloth. To be extra considerate of any chance moisture, you can place your disassembled iPod in front of a fan for 20 minutes.
