How To Clean A Kayak Seat Pad

For those of you who have just purchased an old kayak, then you should know how to effectively clean a kayak seat. It is a simple process if you have experience in cleaning cloth and other similar materials.

You will need the following:

  • Cloth cleaner
  •  2 Rags
  • Bucket
  • Water

Steps

  1. Start by filling the buck with the cleaner and some water. Be sure that you put plenty of cleaner in so that it suds up well and will allow you to saturate the rag for an effective kayak seat cleaning. Remember that you want to get the kayak seat as clean as you possibly can so you have to come back in for another cleaning anytime soon.
  2. Saturate the rag with the soapy water. Be sure to get it full enough so that it will do a good job of getting the kayak seat clean, but not so full that it sloshes on the kayak seat. The best thing to do is just keep ringing it out and refilling it for a sec so it can slowly start to get full of soap.
  3. Scrub the kayak seat until all of the stains come out. Some stains on the seat may be harder than others, and some may not come out at all. Just be sure that while you do it that you put plenty of elbow grease into scrubbing the kayak seat, as light scrubbing will only get off loose dirt.
  4. Take the other rag and dry off any excess water. Be sure to get any water that has seeped into the seat, or rolled down it. Leaving a little bit of water won’t be a problem, but leaving puddles could definitely set up for mold.
