How To Clean Pewter Ware
Knowing how to clean pewter ware is an important part of keeping your pewter items in good condition. Certain substances can actually be corrosive to items made of pewter, which is why is it essential to know what to use to clean pewter ware safely. Fortunately, despite the fact the pewter ware care is specific, it does not require an arduous process of expensive cleaning supplies.
To Clean Pewter Ware You Need:
- Dishpan
- Dish soap
- Sponge
- Microfiber cloth
- Flour
- Vinegar
- Salt
- Measuring spoons
- Measuring cups
- Bowl
- Clean pewter ware dishes, cups and utensils with a mild dish soap and warm water. Fill a dishpan with warm water. Add a few drops of a mild dish soap to the warm water in the dishpan. Place pewter items in the soapy water and use a clean sponge to wipe them down.
- Rinse the pewter ware dishes under a stream of cold water. Use a soft microfiber cloth to dry the pewter ware completely before putting it away.
- Clean items made of polished pewter with a homemade cleaning paste. Measure one teaspoon of salt, 1/2 cup of flour and one cup of vinegar. Combine all three ingredients in a bowl and blend into a paste. Apply the paste to the polished pewter ware items and allow it to dry.
- Rinse the cleaning paste off the polished pewter items. Fill a dishpan with warm water. Add a few drops of mild dish soap. Submerge polished pewter ware items in the soapy water. Wipe them clean with a sponge and rinse them under a stream of cold water. Use a microfiber cloth to buff the dry before you put them away.
