If you like to feel the hot smoke of tobacco in your lungs but fear that your implements might be dirty, you need to know how to clean a pipe. The following method of cleaning a pipe works best with glass pipes as this method involves using a lot of rubbing alcohol and sea salt. However, this method will teach you how to clean a pipe and keep your glass friend perfect for any party or occassion.

To learn how to clean a pipe, you're going to need:

  • A glass pipe
  • Cotton swabs
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Pipe cleaners
  • A plastic bag
  • Rubber gloves
  • Sea salt
  1. Pour sea salt into the bowl of the pipe and place it in the plastic bag. Fill the bag with rubbing alcohol until the pipe is submerged. If you don't need the pipe immediately, you can leave it in the bag overnight. Otherwise, shake the bag like mad to get the rubbing alcohol flowing through the pipe. The salt will act like a scouring pad and get all of the resin out of your pipe.
  2. Don your gloves and get your pipe cleaners or cotton swabs. Rinse your pipe with hot water to get the rubbing alcohol out. Use the cleaners to extract any other residue that might have escaped the wrath of the rubbing alcohol. Constantly rinse your pipe in water as your scrape out every last bit of black gunk.
  3. Rinse your pipe with hot water once more. Let it air dry for a few hours before loading it up with tobacco again.

This is just one of the easiest ways to clean a pipe if you're dealing with a glass pipe. Luckily, you can get most of these items pretty cheaply at a local pharmacy, so you should really try to clean a pipe every time you smoke with it.
