No one wants to risk ruining their console by letting it get dirty, but you also don’t want to ruin your fantastic PS3 by using the wrong things to clean it do you? This is the best and safest way to clean your PS3. The best part, it is very simple as long as you’re sure to always keep up on your cleaning!

To properly clean a PS3 console, you will need:

  • Lint-Free CD wipes
  • Clean soft cloths
  1. Disconnect the console’s AC power cord from your electrical outlet. It is very important that your console has no power to it when you begin to clean your product.
  2. Check your console’s vents on a regular basis. It is very important to your console’s operating that you check the console’s vents on a regular basis for dust. The best way to remove the dust from the vents is to use a handheld vacuum or the hose attachment on your full size vacuum cleaner.
  3. Use lint-free CD wipes to keep all of your games and movies clean and avoid harming your lens. If you keep all of your CDs DVDs and games clean then it is much easier to ensure that you do not harm or dirty the lens inside of you PS3 console. Always be sure to read the directions on your wipes to ensure you are using them properly. Typically your instructions will state that you wipe in a circular motion, starting from the inside of the disk and working your way outward.
  4. Clean the entire console with a soft clean cloth. PlayStation highly recommends that you do not use any type of cleaner on the outside of your console. Their recommendation is that you simply wipe the outside of your console off with a clean cloth. If you have one of the first PS3s you may find it hard to remove all fingerprints with a normal cloth and no product. One tip is to use a microfiber cloth, they are soft so you can easily use more elbow grease on the fingerprints without ever having to risk harming your console. If you feel it is necessary to use a cleaning solution on any part of your console never spray it directly onto your PS3 console, instead spray a very small amount onto your cloth wait a few moments then wipe down your PS3 console.
