How To Clean Soap Scum
Need to know how to clean soap scum? Soap scum is one of a household's most insidious foes. It's hidden in every bathroom and is sometimes hidden by closed shower curtains. There is no reason to be ashamed of soap scum, as it is a normal residue formed from soap and body oil. You can tackle this residue on your own if you follow these steps showing how to clean soap scum.
To clean soap scum you will need:
-
Shampoo

Laundry detergent
-
A water softener
-
Wash and rinse the shower tiles. Using warm water, wet a clean cloth and apply a small amount of regular shampoo. Use the shampoo to wash down the tiles and then rinse them. Shampoo is used to remove oil from hair, so it will do the same for cleaning the soap scum.
-
Wash down the shower walls. Apply laundry detergent to a wet cloth and wash down your shower walls. This should remove the soap scum, but if it does not then use a soft bristled brush for hard-to-clean areas. Laundry detergent will aid in breaking up grease and oil that binds the soap scum. Rinse with cool water.

Use the water softener. Mix the product of your choice with water to make a paste. Use the paste on soap scum build up in areas that were left after washing down the walls and tiles. Most water softeners will aid in dissolving soap scum. Scrub the area clean with a soft bristled brush.
-
Prevent soap scum. Clean your shower regularly to keep the soap scum to a minimum. Spray your shower with a good cleanser after each use to make your next clean up much easier. It will only take a few seconds to do this.
